1,000+ chess tournaments, from registration to standings on one platform
ChessProfi is where chess players in Germany find a tournament, sign up and pay, and where organizers run it: certified pairings, live standings, federation exports. We built it from zero on Supabase.

The challenge
Chess tournaments in Germany live on scattered club sites and run on a chain of separate tools: a form for entries, a bank account for fees, desktop software for pairings, another upload for the federation. Players had no single place to find events. Organizers typed the same names and ratings again at every step.
Our approach
We built one product with two sides. Players get a calendar, a map and a sign-up that takes payment on the spot. Organizers get a console that turns entries into pairings, standings and federation files. Under both sits one Supabase database, synced daily with German and FIDE rating data.
A tournament is one set of data. Enter it once, and sign-up, pairings and ratings all run from it.
What we did
01
Find and join
A calendar of tournaments across Germany and FIDE events in Europe, filtered by time control, rating and region, plus a map with radius search. Players register and pay in the same flow through Stripe.
- Filters by time control, rating and region
- Map of 339 tournaments with radius search
- Stripe checkout: cards, wallets, PayPal
- Waitlist that fills free seats on its own

02
Run the rounds
Organizers set groups, round dates, time control and tiebreaks in one form. The FIDE-certified bbpPairings engine pairs each round, and standings update live with Buchholz, performance and Elo change.
- FIDE-certified pairings via bbpPairings
- Swiss, round robin, Scheveningen and team events
- Live standings with DWZ and Elo forecast
- Certificates, table cards and invoices

03
Player data
Behind the app sits a rating database synced daily: 102,515 German players, 1.9 million FIDE players and 2,487 clubs. Results go back out as DWZ-XML, FIDE TRF16 or straight to chess-results.com.
- Search by club, region, age and DWZ range
- Direct API link to the DSB rating system
- Exports: DWZ-XML, TRF16, chess-results
- Bavarian league manager: 64 leagues, 492 teams
