A concept site for a New York mover that prices a move in five questions

Metro Relocators is a mover we made up to test one idea: someone moving out of New York should see a price range before giving away a phone number. We designed and built the whole site, with the quote as a five-question chat in English, Spanish and Russian.

The challenge

We wrote ourselves the brief a New York mover would bring us: more quote requests from people moving out of state. An interstate move costs thousands of dollars, many people have heard of moving scams, and a typical quote form wants a name, phone and email before it shows a single number. So people fill in several forms and wait for the calls.

Our approach

We turned the form into a short chat that gives before it asks. Five questions, answered with taps and an address lookup, end in a price range for that home and those items, and only then does the chat ask for a name, phone and email. The rest of the page answers the doubts that stop a booking: what is included, how moving day runs and why the price holds. Spanish and Russian come from the browser, because both are among the languages New York speaks at home.

Show the price range first. Ask for the phone number after.

What we did

01

A quote in five questions

The chat asks where from, where to, when, how big the home is and whether there is a piano, art or a safe. Addresses complete as you type, the date comes from a calendar, and the answers land on a price card with the route and every detail.

  • US address lookup as you type
  • Calendar with past days switched off
  • Five home sizes, six specialty items
  • Price range first, then name, phone and email

02

A landing page around the chat

Four services, moving day in four steps, six reasons to book and a contact form for anyone who would rather write. Every quote button on the page, from the header to the last banner, opens the same chat.

  • 4 services with photos
  • Moving day in 4 steps
  • 6 reasons to book, binding estimates among them
  • Sample reviews, labelled as samples

03

Three languages

English, Spanish or Russian is picked from the browser on the first visit and remembered after a switch. The chat, the price card and the dates follow the language, and prices stay in dollars.

  • Language from the browser on the first visit
  • Choice remembered for the next one
  • Dates and numbers in the local format
  • One switch in the header, on phones too

04

The same chat on a real mover's site

Before this concept, we rebuilt the home page of a Virginia mover as a pitch and put the same quote chat in place of its form. We don't name the company. Its home page, measured before and after in May 2026:

  • Page load: 2.7 s → 1.4 s
  • Network requests: 83 → 16
  • Script and style files: 56 → 2
  • Quote form: 10+ fields in an iframe → 5 questions in a chat

How it works

  1. 1

    Moving from

US addresses suggested as you type

  2. 2

    Moving to

The same lookup for the new address

  3. 3

    Move date

A calendar with past days switched off

  4. 4

    Home size

A studio, one to three bedrooms, or a house

  5. 5

    Specialty items

Piano, antiques, art, gym gear, a safe or lots of fragile

  6. 6

    Price range

A card with the range, the route, the date and the details

  7. 7

    Contact

Name, phone and email, asked last; the demo sends nothing
